Click on the image above for a short movie clip of one of the dozens of processions that has been moving through the streets of Antigua over the last few weeks. The Christ is carried on the shoulders of thirty-plus fully costumed men. They trade off every few blocks, and the processions move through the city for hours at a time. The incense is so thick, you can smell it from blocks away. Tomorrow, three or more of these processions sweep the city at the same time. They move the entire night, and the residents (and tourists) of Antigua stay out all night with them, returning to their houses in the late hours of the morning.
